Huna FAQ

Is Huna a Religion?

Is Huna a religion? No. Huna is a philosophy of living that was developed in Polynesia many centuries ago. This site focuses on teachings based on seven spiritual principles and their corollaries that act as a blueprint for physical manifestation and achievement. As these are merely assumptions of a system and not dogma or “ultimate” truths, no religious connotations need be drawn. Those who have learned this system come from a variety of religious, cultural and professional backgrounds. If you take an interest in Huna it is easy to find many sites or blogs with the best blog hosting that discuss Huna and it’s principles.

What can Huna do for me?

What can Huna do for me? Most anything you like! As you browse this site you will find an explanation of the Principles of Huna and their corollaries. The second principle states that there are no limits. If you choose to accept the idea that we live in an infinite universe then anything is possible. Now, when you add that concept to the first, which states that the world is what you think it is, then your imagination and thoughts have the capabilities of shaping a physical “reality” from the unknown that may have been previously considered impossible. Mystics have been telling us this for millenniums, and modern physics and science are now bearing this out through numerous intensive studies. What an impact this can have on our own natural healing capabilities!

What is Piko-Piko?

What is Piko-Piko? Piko Piko is an ancient breathing style used for centering and focus. It is described in my new book, The Adventurer’s Quest.

It literally means “center to center”. In Huna healing there are many energy centers, or piko points. The two most powerful are the navel and the crown of the head. The navel represents you physical source and lifeline while the crown symbolizes your connection with the aumakua, or spiritual realm.

You may perform the breathing pattern seated or standing. The process is as follows:

1. Get in a relaxed position
2. Put one hand on the crown of your head, and the other on your navel. You can use either hand for the positions.
3. Begin your deep breathing. Inhale while focusing on the crown of your head and exhale with attention on your navel. The hands will help you focus.
4. Continue until you feel energized. This could be anywhere from two-ten minutes.
5. You are now ready to ask questions of your spirit or make a prayer for manifestations in your life.
6. Close by thanking and blessing your spiritual source.

There are many, many variations of piko-piko, but this is the basic form. You will find it performed in different ways on audio tape and video selections from our Huna By Mail catalog. It can be found on this site in the Huna for the Home section.

What is Aloha International?

What is an Alaka’i? This is a Hawaiian term referring to a teacher, leader or guide in the system. Much like a guild of craftsmen or even our educational system, when you show in earnest a capability and desire to teach the philosophy, upon process and review of your demonstrative efforts in your community, this honor may be bestowed. It is the recognition of your commitment to help others as your path in life. If your path in life and commitments change, so, then, may your status.

What is a kahuna?

What is a kahuna? Commonly misunderstood, a kahuna is a master of a particular craft or area of life in the ancient Hawaiian society. There were kahuna priests, stoneworkers, navigators, healers, geomancers… roughly what we would equate today with someone holding a Ph.D. As the term was so grossly misunderstood by American missionaries when they arrived in 1820, it carries a dark connotation as is rarely used today.

How do I increase my Huna skills?

How can I increase my Huna skills? Begin to study the principles and start applying them in your world. Firstly, become aware that the world is what you think it is and that we all have different views of “reality.” Open up to the infinite possibilities that are out there and begin to bless the beauty and being of all things. Add a bit of humor in your life. Look for the ways that your life can improve, then act on them. Befriend those who are like-minded and grow into that light. Become part of the universe again!
